Cookiebot alternative for WordPress: Spark Cookie Consent

Cookiebot, from Usercentrics, charges per domain and grows with the number of subpages its scanner finds. Spark Cookie Consent charges per number of sites and runs as a WordPress plugin with its own consent log in your own database. The difference in approach is clear, and so is the trade-off: if you need IAB TCF, advertise through the TCF framework or manage several CMSs with consent shared across domains, Cookiebot is the better choice. If you have a small site within the free limit of 50 subpages, the free Cookiebot plan is also a serious option. This page compares features and pricing model as of October 2026. We have a separate comparison for CookieYes and Complianz.
In short
  • Cookiebot charges per domain and per number of subpages
  • Spark Cookie Consent charges per number of sites, with no subpage tiers
  • Consent log in your own database, translated texts through your own Claude key
  • Cookiebot has IAB TCF, a free plan and consent shared across domains

What Spark Cookie Consent does

Spark Cookie Consent is a WordPress plugin with a live preview where you adjust style, layout, behaviour and texts while the banner runs on your own site. The defaults are privacy friendly: accept and reject carry equal weight, categories can be chosen separately and refused cookies are cleaned up. Google Consent Mode v2 is built in, with signals set to denied until someone consents. A scanner looks for trackers on your live site and pre-fills the categories, scripts stay blocked until the matching category is accepted, and the consent log lives in your site's database and can be exported. You write and translate banner texts with Claude, using your own key. A plugin never makes a site compliant by itself; you stay responsible for things like the cookie declaration.

How Cookiebot works

Cookiebot is a cloud service: you connect your site to a Cookiebot account through an API key or group ID, where the scans and configuration run. A free 14-day trial shows all Premium features; after that a free plan remains for one domain up to 50 subpages, with Google Consent Mode, one language, manual blocking and a consent duration of up to one month. Premium adds, among other things, automatic blocking, geotargeting, automatic translation, IAB TCF, CSV export of all consents, consent sharing across domains and a consent duration of up to 12 months. The subscription is billed monthly; your tier follows the number of domains and subpages and you cannot choose it yourself.

Cookiebot prices per domain and subpage

These are the prices on the Cookiebot pricing page as of October 2026, in euro, excluding VAT where applicable, billed monthly. The tier is set automatically by your number of domains and the highest number of subpages in your scan history; if you grow past the limit during a billing period, the subscription moves to the next tier automatically. Subdomains count as separate domains, example.com and www.example.com count as one. Daily scans are an extra 99 euro per month. Anyone with four or more domains is offered Premium Small. Usercentrics Advanced has no price on the page and is priced by sessions. The pricing page is inconsistent in places about the boundaries between tiers.

Where Cookiebot is stronger

Cookiebot supports IAB TCF; Spark Cookie Consent deliberately does not have it built in. If you have advertising partners who require TCF, Spark Cookie Consent is out. Cookiebot has a free plan for a small domain, shares consent across domains and also works with other CMSs outside WordPress. For geotargeting you need a CDN or host that sends a country header with us; Cookiebot does not mention that condition. A larger, established vendor with its own support department is for some organisations simply a purchasing argument.

How we compared

We read the Spark Cookie Consent product page and plugin code, and the Cookiebot pricing page and WordPress plugin page, as of October 2026. We do not name SparkCore prices here; they are on the pricing page. We make no judgement on the legal suitability of either product. If you see something that is not right, tell us and we will correct the page.
Run a scan on your own site and count your subpages. That shows which Cookiebot tier you fall in before you compare.

No. No plugin can do that alone. You remain responsible for an accurate cookie declaration, a working privacy policy and agreements with the services you load. Get advice if in doubt.
