SearchWP alternative for WooCommerce: Spark Search
SearchWP is a well known search plugin for WordPress that searches more than the default search, including fields, PDFs and custom database tables. Spark Search is narrower and aimed at WooCommerce shops and blogs: an own index in separate tables, live suggestions, typo handling, synonyms, pinned products and statistics without tracking. The trade-off is broad versus focused. If you need PDFs, Office files or very varied content to be searchable, SearchWP is the better choice. If you want a compact shop search bar with typo correction, Spark Search fits better. We have a separate comparison for FiboSearch. This page compares features and approach as of October 2026.
In short
- Own search index in separate tables with fast suggestions
- Typos, synonyms and pinned products are included
- Statistics without IP addresses or cookies
- SearchWP also searches PDFs, Office files and custom tables
What Spark Search does
Spark Search builds its own normalised search index in separate database tables, instead of slow LIKE queries on wp_posts and wp_postmeta. It searches title, SKU (also of variations), brand, category and tags, and optionally attributes, custom fields, ACF keys and the short description. Suggestions appear word by word. If a term returns nothing, a second pass follows that tolerates typos. Synonyms, pinned products with a badge and customer service rules (for example return to your returns page) are included, and results are ranked by relevance, stock and sales figures. It also works without WooCommerce on posts and pages, and in Breakdance, Divi and Elementor.
How SearchWP works
SearchWP has three plans per year. Standard (one site) has unlimited searches and engines, searching PDF and Office documents, the media library, custom post types, meta, taxonomies, custom database tables, stemming, boolean search, live Ajax results and result exclusion. Pro (three sites) adds WooCommerce and other integrations, product data, custom result ordering, redirects, statistics and cross-site multisite search. The WooCommerce page names live product search and search analytics as separate extensions; whether they are in every plan is not stated. Synonyms and typo tolerance are not mentioned on the pages we read.
SearchWP prices
As of October 2026 the SearchWP pricing page lists three plans in dollars per year. The intro price applies to the first term; renewals are at full price, and the renewal amount is not listed separately. There is a 14-day money-back guarantee, and plans can be changed or cancelled at any time. WooCommerce integration is in Pro. SparkCore prices are on the pricing page.
| SearchWP plan (USD per year) | Intro price | Regular price | Sites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 99 | 199 | 1 |
| Pro | 199 | 399 | 3 |

Where SearchWP is stronger
SearchWP searches PDFs, Office documents and custom database tables; Spark Search does not have that on its product page. SearchWP names integrations with ACF, bbPress, WPML, Polylang, Meta Box and Gravity Forms, among others, and has stemming and boolean search. You can manage several search engines and customise the algorithm. Anyone with very varied content, for example a knowledge base with documents or a membership site, is better off with SearchWP. Spark Search is written for shops and blogs and does less, but what it does is tuned to products.
How we compared
We read the Spark Search product page and plugin code, and the SearchWP pricing, features and WooCommerce pages, as of October 2026. We make no statements about search speed or result quality. What SearchWP does not mention, we call not stated; that does not mean it is absent. If you see something that is not right, tell us.
Make a list of ten search terms your customers really use, including typos, and test them in both plugins.
